It’s that time of year again. Ahh, SIFF – how I love thee so. Last night I was convinced to go to the midnight showing of the campy Norwegian nazi zombie flick, Dead Snow. Perhaps not a film classic, but a nice mix of humor and abundant intestines.

As usual, you can check out the films over on the SIFF site or over at the Stranger guide – nice twist, this year you can download an iPhone app too.

Well, I’m out of tickets for SIFF this year. I have to say, I wasn’t as excited for their lineup this year compared to previous years however most of what I saw this year turned out to be pretty good. Here were my favorites:

Letter of Apology…

Dear patron of sushi maki,

I know you were probably looking forward to your special tuna roll. I was looking forward to my spicy tuna roll combo with extra pieces of tamago and unagi as well. Unfortunately, they gave me your order instead and I didn’t notice it until I got home. It’s a ten minute walk and I was too lazy to go back so I ate your order – Sorry!

Seriously though, for a tiny, tiny place, it was hopping on this beautiful Friday Seattle evening. The roll was huge and pretty tasty – I think I’ll have to give them another chance even if I was seriously missing my real order.

Site Update

Ok, alexrose.net is up and ready for business again. I updated to the latest version of wordpress, tweaked a simple theme to get a clean look, and imported my old content. I’m not 100% happy with how things look but I’m going to make a concerted effort to keep working at it, especially since I have a lot of plans for this summer all lined up.

Speaking of summer – its time for SIFF again already. Do you have your tickets yet? I do – going to see some Johnny To, a little Takashi Miike , and a really old (young?) Jackie Chan amongst others.
